ABOUT ANDREW
In 2011, I earned my commerce degree from Saint Mary’s University in my hometown of Halifax, NS. Reflecting on my university experience, I was so fortunate to surround myself with hard working and intelligent people. It made me realize that consistent effort, in the right areas, will deliver great results. During this time, I got a great introduction to business, and it sparked my interest in entrepreneurship.
Since then, I have learned the value of creating the right habits, investing in the right education, and continuing to surround myself with great people. These have given me the confidence to start my journey towards financial freedom.
Taking Action
Attending and networking at real estate events has been instrumental in unveiling the opportunities that arise when you take the right actions. Through home study courses, reading books, blogs, newsletters, listening to audio books, podcasts, and watching YouTube I have gained valuable knowledge and insights into real estate investing. These learnings also opened my eyes to the role that sleep habits, nutrition, and exercise play in our overall health and journey in real estate investing. As these valuable lessons in personal development, time management, and goal setting were implemented into my life, and my deals, I’ve been seeing significant improvements in my productivity and overall well-being.
Getting Started
The pursuit of financial freedom has been a significant focus for me over the past few years and I have invested substantial time, and money, into this area of my life. The two main investments in myself have been a membership to the Real Estate Investment Network (REIN) and learning to invest in multifamily with the M1 Mastermind. These mentorship programs provide weekly support calls, in person events, and home study programs. They have provided me with invaluable education, deal support, and access to an outstanding network of real estate professionals that have been instrumental in my success. In 2021, I took a significant step towards my real estate goals by self-financing three rental properties in Calgary. My portfolio was born! This experience has given me exposure to various investment strategies including condo rental, house hacking, long term buy and hold, secondary suite conversions and the BRRRR Strategy (buy, renovate, rent, refinance, repeat). I’m excited about the potential for these properties to generate monthly cashflow and contribute to my long-term financial goals.
